FC Bayern Munich – Lewandowski surprised with a statement

Robert Lewandowski is currently with the Polish national team. At a press conference, the FC Bayern Munich striker surprised with a statement and indirectly criticized the style of play under coach Julian Nagelsmann.

“At Bayern it has not been easy for me to find goal chances or a place on the field lately. When you play with six offensive players and the opponent is very defensive, it is not easy for a striker,” said Lewandowski.

After 17 competitive games, the world footballer has already scored 23 goals this season despite his “complaints” and is well on the way to defending his golden shoe from the previous season as the best European goalscorer. Lewandowski had broken Gerd Müller’s age-old record with 41 goals in the Bundesliga. This is one of the reasons why he is one of the favorites to win the Ballon d’Or at the end of November.

Nevertheless, Lewandowski is apparently not entirely satisfied with the current way in which the German record champions include him in his attacking game. “In the last few games it took me a while to find a seat and get the ball,” he said, adding: “There were games where I didn’t get a lot of balls in the first 20 minutes.”

“Sooner or later” Bayern will “always have opportunities”, but it is currently “not that easy” for him. He left it open whether this was related to the defensive tactics of the opponents or to Nagelsmann’s game idea. Lewandowski only said: “I had to drop really low in the end to get balls.”
