Maria KeaneIs Lucas Hernandez threatened with failure? The French defender was injured in Bayern’s 5-2 away win against Union Berlin – much to the displeasure of sports director Hasan Salihamidzic.
Hernandez gave way to Dayot Upamecano after 69 minutes. Salihamidzic spoke to the replaced defender immediately about his health. Following Hernandez’s response, the 44-year-old slammed the bank angrily.
The player himself gave the all-clear a few hours after the game via Instagram. He only received “a blow” below the knee.
Dino Toppmöller, the representative of Bavaria’s isolated head coach Julian Nagelsmann, said: “We hope that he can be there again on Tuesday.” Then the record champions in the Champions League will receive Benfica Lisbon.
Hernandez, who had already missed the start of the season because of a meniscus operation, was most recently in the spotlight because he was facing jail time. Since the appeal was granted, he is now spared it.
