FC Bayern: coach Julian Nagelsmann receives praise
Former Bundesliga coach Friedhelm Funkel praised the work of the new Bayern coach. Despite the currently tight table constellation, the 67-year-old sees the record champions as top favorites to win the title. “But I do not share the hope of a hot title fight,” wrote Funkel in his kicker-Column. “Julian Nagelsmann is doing too well at Bayern, I would have predicted nothing else.”
The previous Leipzig coach Nagelsmann succeeded Hansi Flick, who succeeded Joachim Löw as national coach, in the summer. “To believe that Bayern could shake with this coaching change was absurd from the start,” said Funkel. “That is also bad luck for Dortmund, where Marco Rose directly confirmed his competence and natural authority.”
Funkel also raved about Nagelsmann: “Julian is a very intelligent trainer and person. He can deal with top stars, only changes nuances.” As an example, he cited Leroy Sane, who presented himself in ascending form at the beginning of the season with two goals and three assists in the first seven Bundesliga games.

FC Bayern: David Alaba smiles at Hoeneß’s statement
David Alaba reacted with a smile to a statement by Bayern Honorary President Uli Hoeneß. Hoeneß had claimed that Alaba had switched to the wrong club this summer.
“I can actually remember the conversation,” said Alaba with a laugh at a press conference with the Austrian national team. “That was a little different. Not the way he said it was, but a little different.” However, the defender did not go into any further detail. His statement related to Hoeness’ words Bavaria 1. “David Alaba once told me: ‘My dream is still to play in Barcelona one day,'” said Hoeneß.
Alaba left the German record champions in the summer on a free transfer and joined Barcelona’s rivals Real Madrid. In 2008, Alaba moved from the youth of Austria Vienna to FC Bayern. After a six-month loan to TSG Hoffenheim, Alaba played for the FC Bayern professionals for ten years.
Rummenigge talks about Bayern rumors about Rüdiger and Adeyemi
Karl-Heinz Rummenigge spoke about the rumors about Antonio Rüdiger and Karim Adeyemi at the award ceremony of the German Football Ambassador Initiative in Berlin. “I don’t want to get involved in possible transfer market matters. They’ll already know what they’re doing. I think Bayern is well positioned in central defense even without Rüdiger,” said the former CEO of FC Bayern and praised newcomer Dayot Upamecano. Rüdiger recently felt flattered by Bayern’s interest.
Young national player Karim Adeyemi still knows Rummenigge from his time at SpVgg Unterhaching. “Manni Schwabl also contacted Uli Hoeneß at the time and we weren’t ready to pay that much for him at the time. At that time the transfer was supposed to cost around three million euros. That was one thing for a 16-year-old at the time a very proud sum, “said Rummenigge of the striker, who moved from Unterhaching to Red Bull Salzburg in 2018.
“He has developed well now. I saw him in the last international match and now in the Champions League too. He’s an interesting player. You have to wait and see what happens there. Now he may cost one more zero,” added Rummenigge.
Rummenigge also commented on the Super League. You can find a detailed report here.
