Nagelsmann’s assistant coach Toppmöller traded in Frankfurt

Dino Toppmöller is traded as the new coach of Eintracht Frankfurt. Loud Picture Julian Nagelsmann’s previous assistant coach is the most likely successor candidate for Oliver Glasner, from whom the club could part in the summer. At least since the defeat against TSG Hoffenheim, including a red card and a tantrum at the press conference, the Austrian has been up for grabs in Frankfurt.

After a few years as head coach in Luxembourg, Toppmöller joined RB Leipzig in 2020 as Nagelsmann’s assistant. In 2021, the two moved on together to FC Bayern, where the coaching team was fired at the end of March. As a player, the son of Eintracht’s ex-coach Klaus Toppmöller rose to the Bundesliga with the club in 2003.

At Eintracht, Matthias Jaissle from RB Salzburg and Borussia Dortmund’s U19 coach Mike Tullberg were also recently traded as possible Glasner successors. Glasner is still tied until 2024. On June 3, he and his team meet RB Leipzig in the DFB Cup final. In the Bundesliga, Eintracht has been without a win for ten games.

Bayern Munich: Noussair Mazraoui speaks up

Noussair Mazraoui has shared insights into his emotional ups and downs. “Football is a strange sport,” said the 25-year-old right-back after the 2-1 win against Werder Bremen. “One day you’re the worst player and then another week you’re playing again, you do well, you set up a goal and you’re happy again. The emotions go up and down.”

The Moroccan was absent for weeks as a result of the World Cup in Qatar due to a pericarditis and hardly had any playing time after recovery, which is why he said he felt “forgotten” at Bayern Munich. However, due to injury problems among his competitors, he recently started twice in a row. He prepared Leroy Sané’s 2-0 lead against Werder.

“For me, as a right-back, an assist is something that makes me extra happy. It’s something I can help the team with,” said Mazraoui. “When you consider that this is happening at the crucial stage of the championship, it’s particularly important for me and my confidence.”

Thomas Müller’s situation: Stefan Effenberg praises moderation

As in the course of sky-Transmission on Saturday was also at sports1-One-two on Sunday, Thomas Müller’s new bank location was the dominant topic. Coach Thomas Tuchel did not have Müller in his starting eleven in four of the last six competitive games.

“If you go into the new season with Müller on the bench, you have a problem, but not at this point in the season. Now you won’t start stressing anymore,” said Stefan Effenberg. According to the ex-player and expert, Müller is “clever enough”, so now “don’t open a keg. Tuchel is dealing with it very well and cleverly and Müller is doing it too, otherwise they won’t become champions.”

And what’s next in the summer? Managing director Oliver Ruhnert from Union Berlin does not expect Müller to leave: “I think Thomas Müller will end his career at Bayern Munich. He makes this decision completely independently.” Müller’s contract runs until 2024.
