FC Bayern, News: Sadio Mané is in favor of Cancelo’s purchase

João Cancelo received a lot of praise after his great performance against FC Augsburg. “It was really fun to watch him,” said sports director Hasan Salihamidzic. Attacker Sadio Mané was also enthusiastic: “What a player! Today we saw again that Joao is one of the best in the world. So good, really, we are very happy that he is playing for us.”

If the Senegalese has his way, Cancelo should stay with Bayern beyond the summer: “I would like to see him with us next season. We need exactly the kind of players, for sure!”

However, the high purchase option agreed with Manchester City in the amount of 70 million euros speaks against it – especially since Cancelo is currently not an undisputed regular player. That’s why he was also skeptical sky-Expert and ex-Bayern star Didi Hamann on Saturday: “When you have a player like that, you have to find a position for him. He’s just too good not to play.”

Hamann continues: “It’s definitely not an easy decision for the coach to let him out again and again. But if he doesn’t play regularly, it’s also very unlikely that he’ll be signed on in the summer – if it’s financially possible .”

A possible way out would only be negotiations with ManCity to push the enormous transfer fee.

FC Bayern, News: Lucas Hernández surprises with comeback plans

Lucas Hernández is working hard on his comeback. The Frenchman tore his cruciate ligament during the French national team’s first group match at the World Cup in Qatar at the end of November.

Opposite of Picture-Zeitung, the defender raised hopes that he could return to the pitch later this season. “I’m doing well, the injury is getting better and better,” he said and gave a specific return date with a wink: “I’ll be fit again by the Champions League final!”

The final of the premier class will take place in Istanbul on June 10th. So Hernández would still have around three months to get fit again. On Thursday and Friday he had already done his first laps on the lawn on Säbener Straße. However, exercises with the ball are still a long way off.

Coach Julian Nagelsmann was recently optimistic: “I wish he would come back again this season.” However, the 35-year-old admitted that he had not yet consulted the doctors and that he was “a little more passive with such injuries”.

“I don’t want to build up so much pressure,” added Nagelsmann: “It’s nice that he’s running again, but it’s a very serious injury that takes a lot of time.”

FC Bayern, News: Julian Nagelsmann praises Cancelo

After the 5-2 win against FC Augsburg, Julian Nagelsmann gave special praise to João Cancelo. The Manchester City loanee had scored one goal and set up another.

“He played a good to very good game,” said the Bayern coach sky. However, the Portuguese could have handled some situations better in the second half. “Then the game might not be as strenuous, but he scored a great goal and provided a very good assist,” he explained.

Cancelo had recently only played a supporting role in Nagelsmann’s plans. In the triumph over PSG in the round of 16 of the Champions League, he had only come off the bench again.

“The one replacement training session wasn’t quite as good,” Nagelsmann explained his decision at the press conference before the Augsburg game. It was noticed that “the situation is not so easy for him that he does not play”.

A personal conversation helped Cancelo a lot, says Nagelsmann: “It was very open and did him a lot of good. His game is characterized by a certain joy and lightness, which he now has again.”

FC Bayern, News: Serge Gnabry speaks plain language

Serge Gnabry has commented on the criticism of his person that has come up in recent weeks.

“I can’t defend myself against every statement. It’s part of something, but sometimes it’s too blatant. At some point it’s enough,” said the 27-year-old skyMicrophone.

Leroy Sané, who was also in the line of fire, also suffered. “We have to deal with it, but it’s not nice to hear if it’s against you or against a teammate,” said Gnabry.
