FC Bayern Munich – Oliver Kahn admits: I “underestimated” the public role as a boss

Maria KeaneOliver Kahn “underestimated” the importance of public appearances in his role as CEO of Bayern Munich. It had “become clear to him that as a CEO it was necessary to be even more present in public,” the 53-year-old told 11Freunde magazine. He is now “aware that I have to be available in my role at all times”.
Kahn was reacting to the accusation that was repeatedly raised last season that the club leadership with him, President Herbert Hainer and Sport Director Hasan Salihamidzic too often left coach Julian Nagelsmann alone on tricky issues. “Anyone who works here as CEO has to do justice to this club in front of the public every day, make decisions and take responsibility for them,” said Kahn and joked: “Without eggs, it will indeed be difficult at Bayern.”
But he does not want to deny his character in the future either, his style is “just a little different” than that of the former bosses Uli Hoeneß and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. Ultimately, what matters is not “what someone says in public, but what the results are like. There are enough blenders in our world.”
