The 2021/22 football season officially ended with the Champions League final last Saturday. For FC Bayern Munich, however, the season had already come to an end. Two weeks before that, Munich played their last competitive game of the season, in which they were crowned German champions for the tenth time in a row.
Julian Nagelsmann has had a bumpy first season as Bayern coach, but he can take some of what he has learned into the future. The break won’t be long, the focus is already on preparing for the upcoming season. FC Bayern has even booked a trip abroad in this regard.
FC Bayern Munich – trip to the USA in summer 2022: dates, friendlies, opponents
After the global coronavirus pandemic made traveling abroad more difficult in the past two years, nothing stands in the way of the trip to the USA that FC Bayern is planning for summer 2022. The German record champions will be in the USA from July 18th to 24th and will also play friendlies against big names there.
During their stay in the States, Bayern will first play DC United from the MLS on July 20 in the capital Washington. However, the real spectacle follows a few days later: On July 23, FC Bayern meets the English champions and top club Manchester City in Green Bay, Wisconsin, which is coached by former Bayern coach Pep Guardiola.
Another face who knows the Bundesliga will in all likelihood appear in the Skyblues jersey. Ex-Dortmunder Erling Haaland, who is officially considered a ManCity player from July 1, switched to the island for around 75 million (exit clause was activated). The friendly against the Citizens will be played at Lambeau Field, which has a capacity of just over 80,000 spectators and is the home of the Green Bay Packers in the NFL. “It will definitely be a very interesting game for the fans in the USA and around the world,” commented Bayern’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic on the spectacle.

Like all other clubs, FC Bayern is currently working on a squad for next season. With Niklas Süle and Corentin Tolisso, two departures are already fixed. Will Robert Lewandowski also come along? The world footballer still has a valid contract until 2023, but has expressed a desire to leave the club. What FC Bayern could lose in terms of quality, it may also be able to acquire again. Sadio Mane from Liverpool FC is being traded as a potential transfer.
Noussair Mazraoui from Dutch champions Ajax Amsterdam, on the other hand, is already a permanent fixture, and his team-mate Ryan Gravenberch is also set to switch to Bayern Munich.
