Maria KeaneKarl-Heinz Rummenigge, former CEO of Bayern Munich, spoke to Tuttosport Inter striker Lautaro Martinez (24) raved.
When asked which player the 66-year-old would sign if he was still active, Rummenigge replied: “Lautaro Martinez. He is very strong.”
At the same time, Rummenigge emphasized that because of his Nerazzurri past (played at Inter between 1984 and 1987), his heart was still attached to Inter. As a result, he “always tried not to sign any players from there.”
Martinez, who has been chasing goals in the Inter jersey since 2018, has scored eight goals in 20 games across all competitions this season and prepared two more goals. The Argentine is still under contract in Milan until 2026. Last summer Martinez was linked with a move to FC Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur.
Rummenigge also revealed that Bayern were once on Juventus star Paulo Dybala, at that time still in the service of US Palermo. “Before Dybala moved to Juventus, we rated him very highly. He is an excellent talent, but he has his ups and downs,” said Rummenigge, who raved about the 28-year-old a few years ago.
Instead of going to Munich, Dybala moved to Turin in 2015 for 40 million euros, where he will be under contract until next summer.
