FC Bayern – Nagelsmann assistant fails: “He speaks like Rod Stewart”

Xaver Zembrod was absent from FC Bayern in the away game against Hertha BSC. Coach Julian Nagelsmann’s assistant coach had to pass due to angina. Nagelsmann compared him to an aging rock star at the post-game press conference.

In FC Bayern’s 4-1 (1-0) win at Hertha BSC on Sunday, there was one bank space left with the guests. Coach Julian Nagelsmann provided the resolution at the press conference after the game.

“He has side strand angina. No corona,” the 34-year-old explained in Berlin about Zembrod’s absence and joked about the 55-year-old’s affected voice.

“He speaks like Rod Stewart and looks like Bryan Adams,” laughed Nagelsmann: “I hope he’ll be fit again on Tuesday. He got angry on the phone yesterday. He had a raspy voice all week and it got less and less in training. I said that he should rather recover from it.”

The sick leave was also a precautionary measure. Nagelsmann: “In the end it was the right decision because towards the end of the week it also became contagious. He’s sitting in his apartment in Munich and hopefully he was happy that we won.”

FC Bayern will train normally during the week. An internal test match is scheduled for Friday. After that, the players who have recently been used frequently will be given three days off. The Covid returnees, on the other hand, should “get their rhythm”, as Nagelsmann said, and will also train next weekend. Then probably also with “Rod” Zembrod.
