FC Bayern – Kahn on “Basta” statement at Lewandowski: “The situation has changed fundamentally”

CEO Oliver Kahn justified the transfer of Matthijs de Ligt with the many goals that FC Bayern recently conceded. Kahn also speaks about the interest in Talent Mathy’s Tel.

“De Ligt is big, good in tackles, good in the air, he has a good build-up game. He’s someone who likes to lead and is loud,” said Kahn about the upcoming signing from Juventus.

“If you look at the last two or three years, we’ve been very successful, but we’ve conceded too many goals,” said Kahn in Washington, where FC Bayern is on a promotional and preparatory tour.

Getting De Ligt was “quite easy,” said Kahn, “like Sadio Mane,” who “thought for two days.” Kahn adds: “It was the same with Matthijs de Ligt.”

The Dutchman, who is moving to Bayern Munich for up to 80 million, landed in Munich on Monday and is due to leave for Washington on Tuesday and join the team. Before that, however, there should be an official signature.

Oliver Kahn: Mathys Tel is a “super strong talent”

Kahn did not want to confirm whether De Ligt’s arrival would result in the departure of another defender: “At the moment we are not thinking in these categories.”

There are a few candidates for sale or loan, such as Chris Richards, Benjamin Pavard or Tanguy Nianzou.

A purchase candidate is still the 17-year-old Mathys Tel from Stade Rennes. Kahn confirmed the interest: “As far as the offensive is concerned, we have many options. We have to make sure that we don’t overdo it now. It all has to make sense. Tel is also a very interesting player that we’ve been watching for a long time. A super strong talent . The transfer window is still open for a while so we’ll just see.”

The striker talent is said to cost more than 20 million euros – still too much for Bayern’s taste.
