Maria KeaneCEO Oliver Kahn has downplayed speculation about his future at Bayern Munich.
“If I understand correctly, someone has one Twitter– Message sent and everyone else then jumped on it,” said Kahn after the potentially serious 1: 3 (1: 0) on Saturday at FSV Mainz 05 in the ZDF: “And then there was a hype about this topic.”
Kahn was referring to a tweet by former Bundesliga striker Jan Aage Fjörtoft. The Norwegian had recently described Kahn’s dismissal as “a matter of time” and that the separation process had long been an “ongoing process”.
Kahn reiterated on Saturday: “I can only tell you: I have only one goal. To get through this season with the German championship title and then to really attack again next season.” How sportschau.de reported on Saturday before the game, Bayern are planning to continue with Kahn as CEO.
After the defeat in Mainz, Bayern Munich lost the lead in the table to Borussia Dortmund. The Bundesliga championship is the last remaining chance for a title this season, the Munich team have already failed in the Champions League and the DFB Cup.
