FC Bayern – Salihamidzic on the striker’s position: “Of course we’ll sit down”

Sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic from FC Bayern Munich has not ruled out signing a new striker for the coming season.

“Of course we’ll sit down and see what we can do on the transfer market,” said Salihamidzic after Bayern’s disappointing defeat of the cup against SC Freiburg on Tuesday evening (1-2).

Since the departure of Robert Lewandowski to FC Barcelona last summer, there has been a gap in the Munich attack. This season, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting usually started up front, also under new coach Thomas Tuchel. Choupo-Moting has done it “very, very well” so far, emphasized Salihamidzic.

Salihamidzic did not want to fix the recent inconsistent performances, which according to the bosses had also led to the dismissal of ex-coach Julian Nagelsmann, in the striker position. “I would say that there is a lack of other things, that we don’t have this energy over a longer period of time,” said the 46-year-old. Basically, according to Salihamidzic, Bayern have enough players “who can score goals very well.”
