Bayern, News: FCB stars optimistic despite CL defeat

In the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals, Bayern surprisingly lost 1-0 to Villarreal. Despite the defeat, the Bayern stars are optimistic that they can still turn the tables in the second leg.

“We’re not here to moan and tear our game apart. We know how to assess that. That wasn’t what we wanted to show today in all respects,” said Thomas Müller after the game against the Spaniards.

There would be no panic at Bayern. “We’ll find out there. We have a home game next week. We’re now 1-0 down, half is played. And we’ll pick ourselves up now, then we’ll see that we win the Bundesliga game at the weekend and then it will continue next Tuesday. We already know what to do by then,” Müller continued.

Teammate Joshua Kimmich saw it similarly. “The defeat was due to our approach. In the first half we weren’t there, in the second half it was a wild game. We then wanted more, but we also allowed a lot,” said Kimmich and announced: “We will be in the second leg show a different face.”

FCB, News: Nagelsmann names two superstars as desired players

Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann has in an interview with Amazon Prime When asked about his favorite players, Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe and Barcelona midfield ace Frenkie de Jong were named.

“Mbappe is certainly not wrong for any team. I also think that Frenkie de Jong is a very good player,” said the 34-year-old Bayern head coach.

At the same time, Nagelsmann admitted that it is unrealistic for the two players to wear the Munich jersey in the near future. “Both would rather go beyond the scope of our financial possibilities.”

De Jong is set in midfield at FC Barcelona and also feels comfortable with the Catalans, as he announced a few weeks ago. Mbappe, on the other hand, is on the market for a free transfer in the summer. Most recently, a transfer to Real Madrid was considered likely, but the 23-year-old Frenchman does not rule out a contract extension with Paris Saint-Germain.

Bavaria, News: Referee Gräfe gives Freiburg hope

Former referee Manuel Gräfe gave SC Freiburg hopes of a win at the green table. The Breisgauers had appealed against the game rating (4:1) after FC Bayern made a mistake.

Gräfe referred to rule 3, paragraph 3 (exchange process) of the DFB football rules 2021/2022 and told the image: “It states that a change is made when the player enters the field, but there are several conditions for this. One is the referee’s approval, another that the player has to leave the field. So Sabitzer made the change Coman in the exchange slot with Süle de facto not yet completed.”

Graefe continues: “The substitution was only formally made in the next break in the game and that would then possibly be a fourth substitution slot for Bayern, which would violate the implementation regulations.”
