Felix Magath apparently throws Ishak Belfodil out of the squad

Felix Magath apparently found his first victim at Hertha BSC. picture reports that coach Ishak has dropped Belfodil from the squad for the game against FC Augsburg.

According to the newspaper, Belfodil (30) did not travel to Augsburg. The reason is said to be that the Algerian showed a lack of will and a lack of body language.

Belfodil is said not to have appeared in training with the aggressiveness desired by the coaching team. Therefore, his readiness for action is in question.

Magath only said at a press conference on Friday: “There are no more excuses. We need this fight and commitment now.”

Again and again the two had clashed. After an incident from the 2011 season, the relationship between Magath and Diego finally broke up. Wolfsburg fought against relegation in Hoffenheim on the last day of the game.

“The last year and a half in Wolfsburg were certainly not nice for me, but that’s the business. That’s done,” Jentzsch later said diplomatically. But he never had a personal problem with Magath.

Patrick Helmes (VfL Wolfsburg): Having switched from Magath to the Autostadt as a desired striker, Helmes was increasingly sidelined due to numerous injuries. Ultimately, he was no longer considered under “Quälix”.

In retrospect, he is even grateful to his ex-coach. “Felix Magath shaped me. I learned from him how to live and work like a professional, to give it my all every day and to subordinate everything to football,” said Helmes in an interview.

At VfL it was still nothing. Magath sells him on to Cologne, where Helmes is plagued by similar injury concerns. In 2015 he finally ended his active career in the cathedral city.

Hertha BSC: Only one point up to 15th place

Belfodil has played 23 games so far this Bundesliga season, recording three goals and three assists.

Hertha is currently ranked 17th in the Bundesliga, tied on points with sixteenth-placed Arminia Bielefeld, but with a goal difference that is 15 goals worse. However, the distance to rank 15 (VfB Stuttgart) is only one point.
