Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg will be strengthened with the Austrian U21 national player Patrick Wimmer for the coming season. The 20-year-old comes from league rivals Arminia Bielefeld and will receive a five-year contract in Wolfsburg until the summer of 2027.
As VfL announced on Wednesday, the transfer is possible due to an exit clause in Wimmer’s contract in Bielefeld. The clubs did not provide any further details.
His focus is on staying up with Arminia, and from the summer he wants to be successful with VfL, emphasized Wimmer: “My goal is to go full throttle from day one in order to celebrate success with the club and as regularly as possible to to play international places.”
Wimmer moved from Austria Wien to Bielefeld at the beginning of the season. There he is one of the regular players under coach Frank Kramer. In his 26 Bundesliga games so far, Wimmer has three goals and seven assists. This makes him the top scorer in Arminia.
