Managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke from Borussia Dortmund was emotionally affected by the separation from coach Marco Rose.
“I’m personally very sorry, I had to nibble on it for a few days. I wish Marco all the best,” said Watzke sky. Rose and BVB parted ways after a rather disappointing season with a second-place finish in the Bundesliga and early failures in both cup competitions.
“We decided it together. Something was missing somewhere on both sides. We felt that it might be a good thing if we split up,” explained Watzke. His successor is Edin Terzic, who led BVB to victory in the DFB Cup in 2021.
According to Watzke, there is currently “a lot to change in the team and some things to be reconfigured”. According to a report by Bild, Thorgan Hazard, Emre Can and Raphael Guerreiro, among others, are to leave the club. Nico Schlotterbeck, Karim Adeyemi and Niklas Süle have already been confirmed as newcomers.
