Hasan Salihamidzic is surprised at Hoeneß' statements about Neuer

Bayern Munich’s sports director Hasan Salihamidzic reacted with astonishment to statements by FCB Honorary President Uli Hoeneß about Manuel Neuer.

“I don’t know what he meant,” said Salihamidzic before Bayern’s game at Borussia Mönchengladbach sky in response to the statement by the club bosses announced by Hoeneß in the Causa Neuer.

“Oliver (Kahn, editor’s note) and I also reacted immediately after the interview. By the way, I told Uli that we will speak to Manuel. Otherwise you have to ask Uli. Maybe he was misunderstood too,” added Salihamidzic.

In relation to possible sanctions for Neuer after his headline-grabbing interview, Hoeneß spoke to the Editorial network Germany announced: “Those responsible at FC Bayern will shortly comment publicly on the matter, and the second leg in Paris could be the right time for that.”

Meanwhile, Salihamidzic explained that the conversation with Neuer has not yet taken place. The FCB boss left open the question of possible consequences for Neuer, who in the interview sharply criticized the separation of his long-time goalkeeping coach Toni Tapalovic. “We said that we will talk to Manuel after these important weeks. And then we will see how we react. But the most important thing is that we first talk to Manuel and clarify it internally,” said Salihamidzic.

According to Salihamidzic, the differences with Neuer could “of course” be resolved. The 46-year-old also underlined the “good relationship” with Neuer, who will be out until the end of the season after his skiing accident with a broken leg. But Salihamidzic also said: “Of course we weren’t enthusiastic about the interview, but we have a good relationship and we’ll see what comes of it.”
