Goalkeeper Marius Gersbeck has been suspended by second division club Hertha BSC as a result of police investigations into an incident at the Austria training camp. As the Bundesliga relegated announced on Monday, this was the decision of managing director Thomas E. Herrich and sports director Benjamin Weber.
“The reason for the suspension is the alleged facts in the context of the training camp,” said Hertha. Herrich said: “Due to the police investigation into our player Marius Gersbeck, we have decided to suspend Marius from team training until further notice. He has also left the team hotel without permission.”
Gersbeck had already left the training camp on Sunday, he should “keep fit individually for the time being”. According to media reports, the 28-year-old, who returned from Karlsruhe this summer, is accused of being involved in a physical altercation in Zell am See.
Coach Pal Dardai is preparing his team there until Friday for the second division start on July 29 at Fortuna Düsseldorf.
