The goalkeeper has recently learned a lot about football and the business behind it. “It can be tough and cause a roller coaster ride of emotions from one day to the next,” said the Swiss: “If you extend a contract in football, you will of course be told that you are counted on. He came back from vacation “and was no longer number 1, but number 38”. His assumption is that there should be changes in the squad that “take a different direction” that “you will probably see in other positions in the next few years”.
Bürki sobered: “I gave everything, but that didn’t lead to a real chance. I had to learn to free myself from this constant pressure.” Nevertheless, he is not angry with BVB: “On the whole, I would give this time a very positive note.”
Bürki will be playing for the new MLS club St. Louis City SC in the USA from next summer. In Dortmund, the goalkeeper can look back on two cup victories and one Supercup success.
