Joshua Kimmich is allowed to leave quarantine

Joshua Kimmich (26) from FC Bayern Munich is allowed to end his quarantine after his corona infection on Thursday.

“He’s been free. His quarantine ends tonight,” confirmed sports director Hasan Salihamidzic before Bayern’s final Champions League group game against FC Barcelona on Wednesday. This means that Kimmich could theoretically return to the squad for the Bundesliga game against FSV Mainz 05 on Saturday.

“Now we’ll do the examinations, then we’ll see. Jo wants to give everything to get back quickly. But we have to be sensible,” said Salihamidzic. “Our trainers and doctors will sit down together.”

The unvaccinated Kimmich had to be in quarantine as a contact person at the beginning of November. He later infected himself, which is why he has been in isolation since November 24th. All in all, including the duel with Barcelona, he has so far missed six competitive Bayern games.
