BVB, News: Julian Brandt complains about “Stuttgart vibes” against Gladbach
With an intermediate result of 4:0 after just 32 minutes, nothing should have burned out at BVB in the home game against Borussia Mönchengladbach. But the Foals scored two more goals in the second half and even had a chance to make it 3-4 just before the end, before Giovanni Reyna made it 5-2 in added time.
Offensive player Julian Brandt was correspondingly critical after the game. “We were very efficient in the first half, which made us dominant,” he said. But: “In the second half, that fucked me up a bit, if I’m honest.”
After the break, BVB “no longer acted seriously” in front of the opposing goal. “And then you got a bit of a light Stuttgart vibe, 4: 1, 4: 2, then it burns all of a sudden and Gregor still holds you very well.” Dortmund only played 3:3 against VfB despite being outnumbered and leading several times.
Incidentally, in the fight for the championship, Brandt had no hope of support from arch-rival Schalke 04: “You always have a bit of residual hope. But, I’m from Bremen, I know that when Werder Bremen plays in Munich, it usually doesn’t work out. And It was similar at Schalke recently. You can assess it realistically.” In the end, Schalke clearly lost 6-0 in Munich.
BVB, News: Terzic doesn’t want to be “distracted” by Bellingham
Almost every day there are new reports about the future of BVB star Jude Bellingham: is he going to Real Madrid? Is the deal practically done already? Could Manchester City still get involved?
Of course, the BVB managers and players are also asked about it. Coach Edin Terzic didn’t want to let that go. “I’m the coach here, I’m responsible for sporting things and I’m responsible for us focusing completely on sporting things,” emphasized the 40-year-old in an interview sky.
The rumors about Bellingham should not affect the team. “And it doesn’t matter whether you or your colleagues or whatever newspaper tries to distract us. We won’t allow that,” emphasized the Dortmund coach.
After all, he then asked for understanding for his attitude: “We respect your job, we respect your questions, but the only answers we can give are those on the pitch.”
BVB, News: Sébastien Haller praises “the best team in Germany”
With the 5:2 against Gladbach, BVB kept pace with Bayern in the title fight, and Borussia is still one point behind the series champions from Munich. “I enjoy being here every day, being able to be on the pitch and in the dressing room,” said double goalscorer Sébastien Haller. “That’s my current goal: to enjoy everything with the lads.”
It’s just as good “but also playing at the top of the table,” he emphasized. And explained: “In 2023 we will be the best team in Germany.”
The second half of the table proves the attacker right: Dortmund leads there with 36 points ahead of FC Bayern (32) and Union Berlin (26). If you add the two matchdays from the first half of the season, which were only completed in January after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, BVB even scored a proud eight points more than Bayern.
BVB, News: Marriage proposal in Signal Iduna Park causes amusement
In the preliminary reporting before the game between BVB and Gladbach on Saturday evening showed sky a marriage proposal: A BVB fan knelt on the sidelines and asked for his girlfriend’s hand – she said yes. Presenter Nele Schenker and the expert duo Lothar Matthäus and Julia Simic experienced the campaign up close.
She couldn’t resist a little teasing afterwards: hopefully there would be fewer marriages for the couple than for Matthew. He married five times.
Edin Terzic was also in a good mood after the final whistle. When moderator Sebastian Hellmann asked if he would watch Bayern’s game against RB Leipzig next Saturday (6:30 p.m.), he replied: “I already knew that before the game … You’re a bit forgetful, aren’t you ? […] I have given my answer. We’ll be on the training ground at half past three before we head to Augsburg.”
Hellmann had to admit his mistake afterwards: “Then I’m forgetful.” Terzic’s reaction: “Everything’s fine.”
