BVB, News: Julien Duranville talks about the early days in Dortmund
At the end of January, Julien Duranville switched from RSC Anderlecht to BVB for 8.5 million euros, but was unable to play for Borussia due to a torn muscle.
In an interview with the Dortmund member magazine, the 16-year-old gave information about his current status: “First of all, I had to do rehabilitation here after the muscle injury in my thigh. Now I have to work hard to get my mobility and competition toughness back one hundred percent,” said Duranville.
In addition to rehab, it is important for him to integrate into the team. French-speaking players like Thomas Meunier help him with this. “He helps me to integrate, especially with the language. Besides him, there are Sébastien Haller and Rapha Guerreiro, also two players who speak my mother tongue. And everyone else speaks perfect English. But in the medium term I want me communicate in German, of course,” explained the Belgian.
Duranville hopes that he may be able to make his debut for BVB this season. However, he recently suffered a setback in training, as coach Edin Terzic reported last week. “It will take a few more weeks before he’s 100 percent. He had started to take part in training in the last few weeks, but then unfortunately felt something again. That’s why we’re very careful that we don’t let him don’t throw it in too early,” said Terzic.
In any case, participating in the pros has awakened Duranville’s desire for more: “I already have a lot of fun when I swap positions with Karim Adeyemi in training. From left to right and back again. I can imagine how we’ll confuse the opponent in the game, even if it can take a while. I’m not going crazy and I want to progress bit by bit.”
