Laimer to Bayern Munich? "Did it for me"

Konrad Laimer has to be content with a wild card at RB Leipzig. Now the 24-year-old is openly expressing his wish for more minutes.

In the summer, Konrad Laimer was still on Bayern’s wish list. This was confirmed by RB sports director Oliver Mintzlaff himself – after all, “only” Dayot Upamecano and Marcel Sabitzer moved to Munich with Julian Nagelsmann.

While FC Bayern apparently appreciates the quality of the Austrian national player, it is not enough for the starting line-up under Neo-RB coach Jesse Marsch. Laimer was only allowed to start once in the league for Leipzig.

“Of course I would like more time,” says Laimer. “I’m not happy. There are always reasons in football. I try to do my best when I play and I am confident that everything will change quickly if I get my chances.”

Perhaps Laimer was also undoed by the changed play area under march. “We now have more focus on the game against the ball and full pressing, not like in the last two years,” explains the 24-year-old.

While things are mixed up for Laimer at the club, there is also a fire on the roof with the ÖFB team – the away doubles in Faroe Islands and Denmark need six points. “We have two games ahead of us that we want to win.” Even without stars like Marko Arnautovic, Sasa Kalajdzic or Christoph Baumgartner, all of whom are missing: “We take it as it is, have a large, broad squad and still always a lot of quality in the team. “
