Manuel Neuer had three operations for skin cancer

National goalkeeper Manuel Neuer (36) has had three operations for skin cancer. This is one of the reasons why the captain of record champions Bayern Munich, together with tennis star Angelique Kerber, has now launched its own care series “Newkee”.

“We both have very personal histories when it comes to skin diseases. In Angelique’s case it’s sun-induced hyperpigmentation and in my case skin cancer on the face, which I’ve had to operate on three times,” Neuer said in a press release:

“That’s why we made sure that we no longer make any compromises when it comes to sun protection: Because I train outside all the time and also like to spend my free time in nature.”

Around three weeks before the World Cup in Qatar, Neuer is apparently about to make his comeback after a shoulder injury. Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann recently indicated that the keeper could possibly play again at the weekend in the Bundesliga at Hertha BSC (Saturday, 3.30 p.m.). “Everyone can go to bed in peace: the development over the last week is good, he has already trained specifically for the goalkeeper.”
