Marco Neppe has "recently regularly aroused desire" in the Premier League

Michael Reschke has disclosed the interest of English clubs in FC Bayern’s technical director, Marco Neppe. “Marco has recently aroused the desires of Premier League clubs on a regular basis,” Neppe’s predecessor told the Munich newspaper tz.

According to media reports, Neppe was said to have been under discussion in May, among other things, as sports director at Tottenham Hotspur. Reschke had steered Neppe to Munich himself in 2014. When the 65-year-old switched from Bayer Leverkusen to FCB, Neppe followed him as a scout.

“He has a much higher reputation in the international scene than in the German public,” explained Reschke, who now works as Head of European Football for the consulting agency CAA Stellar.

Top coaches such as Mauricio Pochettino (Chelsea FC) and Pep Guardiola (Manchester City) would hold the 37-year-old in high esteem, according to Reschke: “In the case of Bayern, this has recently become clearer thanks to the clear and respectful statements made by Thomas Tuchel and Jan-Christian Dreesen. Karl-Heinz Rummenigge’s appreciation of him has also increased significantly.”

After the departure of sports director Hasan Salihamidzic, it was rumored that Neppe could also leave the club. Apparently, shortly before the first squad meeting, the Bayern bosses included the former defender in the newly formed task force.

Most recently, Neppe is said to have done important preparatory work for the transfers of Konrad Laimer, Raphael Guerreiro and Kim Min-jae. This is one of the reasons why the Offenbacher is expected to at least fulfill his contract, which runs until 2026, despite the commitment of sports director Christoph Freund.
