Marco Rose reveals goodbye to Christopher Nkunku

Marco Rose has confirmed the departure of RB Leipzig striker Christopher Nkunku after this season after beating 1899 Hoffenheim 1-0 in the Bundesliga.

Nkunku’s transfer to Chelsea in the summer is considered an open secret. Several media including the Fabrizio Romano and sky, reported in the past few months that Leipzig and the Blues had agreed on a change and that the formalities had already been completed. Only the official announcement is still pending.

Chelsea are said to be transferring 60 million euros to RB for Nkunku, whose contract with the Saxons runs until 2026.

Nkunku played for Marolles and Fontainebleau in youth before joining PSG in 2010. In 2019, RB Leipzig signed him for a fee of 13 million euros.

This season, the 25-year-old has been struggling with injury problems, including a torn lateral ligament that also cost him participation in the World Cup in Qatar. Nkunku appeared in 30 competitive games for RB, scoring 18 goals and providing 5 assists.
