Mario Götze apparently has an exit clause at Eintracht Frankfurt

Mario Götze could possibly leave Eintracht Frankfurt again in the summer despite a contract until 2025 – thanks to an exit clause. According to information from sports1 and the Picture-Zeitung, the 2014 world champion had a corresponding passage written into his contract.

According to the Picture-Zeitung the opt-out clause only applies if Frankfurt misses out on qualifying for an international competition this season.

If the worst came to the worst, the transfer fee would be “in the mid-single-digit million range”.

As bottom in the table, the Hessians still have a theoretical chance of qualifying for Europe via the league. In addition, Götze and Co. are still in the final of the DFB Cup against RB Leipzig on June 3rd.

Götze moved to Frankfurt from PSV Eindhoven last summer and has since scored three goals and two assists in the Bundesliga.
