Mark Uth will be out until the end of the season

1. FC Köln will have to do without offensive player Mark Uth until the end of the season. “I planned Mark and told him about it,” said FC coach Steffen Baumgart at the press conference on Thursday before the home game against VfL Wolfsburg (Saturday, 3:30 p.m.).

Uth is suffering from a severe pubic bone and adductor injury and had to undergo another operation in December last year. Baumgart wants to give the player the time he needs to get fully fit again and make a fresh start in the coming season.

Jan Thielmann is also unavailable against Wolfsburg due to a muscle injury, and full-back Benno Schmitz is also out due to illness. “I don’t think he’ll make it into the squad,” said Baumgart.

Kingsley Schindler is planned as an alternative for Schmitz. Timo Hübers is available again in the FC starting XI after his yellow card suspension. Baumgart has great respect for the wolves. “Anyone who looks at the Wolfsburg squad knows what’s in store for us. The team is of very high quality,” said the FC coach.
