Markus Babbel criticizes Nico Schlotterbeck: "The hype was too big"

Former international Markus Babbel sharply criticized Borussia Dortmund’s Nico Schlotterbeck after his poor performance in the game between the DFB team and England (3:3).

“The hype about Schlotterbeck was too big, he has scenes like before the penalty in England in every game,” says Babbel table football quoted.

The former FC Bayern player, who played 51 times for Germany, currently finds Schlotterbeck’s BVB team-mate Mats Hummels, who was not considered recently, “stronger” – even than Niklas Süle.

After the 0-1 defeat against Hungary and the draw at Wembley, there was already criticism of the team of national coach Hansi Flick. “Our team has all the qualities, but they are not implemented. The Bayern crisis plays a role,” explained Babbel.

Babbel also expects a significant increase in performance from the FC Bayern players, who have been without a win four times in the Bundesliga. He appealed primarily to Joshua Kimmich: “A lot depends on how disciplined Kimmich plays. He’s the quarterback in front of the chain, but prefers to shine himself. He’s an outstanding player, but usually not where he needs to be.”

In Leon Goretzka and Ilkay Gündogan he has “two great partners” who could act “alternately or together” with Kimmich in the DFB headquarters.
