Mathys Tel wants to stay in Munich "for a very, very long time".

Bayern’s youngster Mathys Tel has made it clear that he sees himself in Munich in the coming years. “Very, very long,” he replied in club magazine 51 when asked how long he wanted to stay at FCB.

“I’ve worked a lot on myself, every day. That’s why I’m at Bayern Munich now,” said the 17-year-old Frenchman about his move to Munich. The German record champions transferred 20 million euros to Stade Rennes last summer and gave the attacker a contract until 2025. “My family has always supported me so that I can live my dream.”

In the current season, the Sturmjuwel has made twelve competitive appearances, mostly as a substitute. He got four hits. “I’ve learned to deal with the pressure – and the most important thing: my teammates help me. Together we are strong, together we can achieve a lot,” Tel said of his adjustment. He quickly found friends in the team, naming Jamal Musiala, Joshua Kimmich, Sadio Mané, Dayot Upamecano, Lucas Hernández, Benjamin Pavard and Kingsley Coman – “actually everyone”.

Thierry Henry also had a major influence on his development: “He has had a great career and is one of the defining players in the history of football: technically, physically, mentally – he had everything that makes a great player.” Tel, who started his career as a defender, hopes that “one day he will be able to celebrate successes like him”.
