FC Bayern, News: Matthäus criticizes the lack of support from Bayern bosses for Nagelsmann
Lothar Matthäus recognizes a lack of backing for head coach Julian Nagelsmann at FC Bayern Munich. “The pressure feels like it’s increasing from week to week. But to be honest, you often leave him quite alone,” writes the German record international in his sky-Column.
For Nagelsmann, who recently made disparaging remarks towards the referee team after the 3-2 draw at Borussia Mönchengladbach, it was not an easy time, Matthäus continued. “The question is, why isn’t someone from a higher position protecting him publicly and standing in front of him, as a Bayern coach needs when a lot of things are falling on him?” wondered the former Munich player: “You slowly win but certainly the impression that not everyone in the club management is behind him anymore.”
FC Bayern’s big problem is “that one problem hasn’t been solved yet and they can create the next one themselves,” explained Matthäus. As examples, he cited Serge Gnabry’s trip to Paris and the expulsion of goalkeeping coach Toni Tapalovic and the resulting interview with Manuel Neuer. “As a club manager, you would have to do these things much faster, moderate them, close them down. But nobody feels like doing that anymore, not right or much too late,” said the 1990 world champion.
Nagelsmann should “not be condemned forever for the freak out at the weekend. It’s nice that there are emotions. This sport thrives on it and we’re all well entertained,” explains Matthäus. He assumes “that the sports court will punish him and that’s okay. But after that it should be fine again.”
FC Bayern, rumor: FCB is said to have dealt with Viacario from FC Empoli
Before FC Bayern signed Yann Sommer from Borussia Mönchengladbach in response to the injury to first-choice goalkeeper Manuel Neuer in winter, Bayern Munich are said to have dealt with keeper Guglielmo Vicario from FC Empoli.
FC Empoli president Fabrizio Corsi revealed to tuttomercatoweb, that the Munich team had the 26-year-old in their sights as a possible new replacement. “We know that Bayern dealt with him in January,” explained Corsi.
Reported in winter tuttosport and La Republica even from a concrete offer for Empoli’s goalkeeper, according to Corsi, however, there was “no contact” with the German record champions, who finally agreed with Gladbach on a transfer from Sommer.
FC Bayern, News: Police allowed Bayern buses through the rescue lane without permission
After Bayern’s 3-2 defeat in Mönchengladbach on Saturday, there was a traffic jam on the autobahn, and the two Bayern team buses were maneuvered past it through a rescue lane. The police are now admitting mistakes.
“There were instructions not to do that. How it came about must now be dealt with internally,” said a police spokesman German press agency. Actually, the two vehicles should only be accompanied by the police to the motorway entrance, but preferential treatment was not foreseen.
