Matthias Ginter is waiting for an offer from Gladbach boss Eberl

Matthias Ginter has been a top performer at Borussia Mönchengladbach for years, but his contract ends in the summer. Now the national player has expressed himself about his future plans.

After sports director Max Eberl had recently announced a new offer for the central defender, Ginter is now waiting for the Gladbachers’ next move.

In any case, Eberl has not yet made any concrete contact. “No, he has not yet contacted me. I’m curious. He has often emphasized why he has not made an offer,” said Ginter in a DFB press round, which also took place SPOX and Goal participated.

The financial cuts caused by the corona pandemic also influenced the staff planning of the Gladbach company in the summer. But the situation has apparently eased. “Now more money is coming in again, and we will try to invest it sensibly and appropriately for the players,” said Eberl in a “one-two” on Sunday Sport1.

Ginter came to Gladbach from Borussia Dortmund in 2017 and is under contract there until 2022. He can still imagine where to go, but he has no concrete alternative in mind yet. “There aren’t really any plans yet. Of course you worry about when the contract expires next year. It’s also quite normal. I’ve never talked about other clubs out of respect for the current club,” said the 27-year-old. It is “unfair and also disrespectful” to deal publicly with other clubs.

Borussia Mönchengladbach: Eberl fights for Ginter and Zakaria

The national player has not set a specific deadline for when he wants clarity, “but I don’t think it will go until summer or spring next year. Of course, both the club and the player want planning security as early as possible have, “explained Ginter. He just wanted to wait for the next few weeks and months. “I’m actually relatively relaxed with the current situation.”

In addition to Ginter’s contract, for example, Denis Zakaria’s working paper will also expire after the season. As with Ginter, Eberl has not yet written off a whereabouts for Zakaria. “Of course we are trying to extend with Zakaria,” said Eberl. “It is of fundamental importance for us to continue with players like this. I do not feel without a chance. It is a lot of work, but I will face it.” Eberl also responded with clear words on Thursday to the mixed Gladbach start of the season and made a trio around Christoph Kramer responsible.
