Maria KeaneHansi Flick has praised his successor Julian Nagelsmann at Bayern Munich.
“I think Julian is a great coach, a top coach. Especially in his younger years that’s very astonishing. He’s doing an outstanding job,” said Flick dpa. “I have zero-point problems with Julian.”
Nagelsmann’s move from RB Leipzig to Munich did not surprise Flick: “It was only logical that he should coach Bayern Munich.” The 34-year-old got off to a remarkable start in Munich and won nine of the first eleven competitive games with his team. “I’m really excited to see the team play football,” said Flick.
As national coach, Flick himself benefits from Nagelsmann’s good work. Eight FC Bayern players made it into his current squad. “We talk to each other more often. That’s just part of it,” said Flick.
Nagelsmann had succeeded Flick in Munich. Despite his enormous success, he asked to leave in the spring and took over from Joachim Löw a little later at the DFB. In return, FC Bayern paid a substantial transfer fee for Nagelsmann to RB Leipzig. According to media reports, this should have amounted to up to 25 million euros.
