"Never really enforced": Rummenigge comments on Süle's departure from FC Bayern

Bayern Munich’s former CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is relaxed about the impending departure of central defender Niklas Süle. There were also clear announcements in the direction of Marcel Sabitzer and Alexander Nübel.

“The problem is that he never really asserted himself in his position,” said Rummenigge sky.

Süle (26), who will leave the German record champions for free in the summer, is a “useful player,” said Rummenigge. FC Bayern is “well-manned” in central defense even without the 26-year-old. If you were to field the best players in the team, the former Bayern boss continued, “Niklas Süle is not there at the moment”.

According to CEO Oliver Kahn, Bayern made “a very good contract offer” to the defender, who moved from Hoffenheim to Munich in 2017, but Süle rejected it. FC Bayern must “comply with certain economic limits,” said Kahn about the failed negotiations.

Rummenigge not only critically commented on Süle’s decision, but also on Marcel Sabitzer’s previous performances on the Isar. The 27-year-old Austrian, signed for 15 million euros at the end of August, is a “luxury transfer”, but he has “not improved the squad in the way you might have imagined”.

Rummenigge: Haaland from BVB to Bayern unrealistic

Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund would undoubtedly do that. However, Rummenigge still does not think it is realistic to sign the Norwegian goalscorer. “Do you actually know what a Haaland package would cost? You can’t imagine that,” emphasized the 66-year-old, who also commented on goalkeeper Alexander Nübel, who is currently on loan to Ligue 1 club AS Monaco.

His clear statement: the native of Paderborn must finally turn his back on FC Bayern should Manuel Neuer extend his contract again. There is a new contract in the room until June 30, 2025. Rummenigge: “If Manuel Neuer extends the game, the game will no longer make sense for Alexander Nübel.”

Nübel’s move from FC Schalke 04 to Munich in 2020 was “a bit naive” given the importance of Neuer, the ex-boss judged relentlessly.
