Maria KeaneBundesliga promoted SpVgg Greuther Fürth has signed Swiss international striker Cedric Itten (24) on loan from Scottish record champions Glasgow Rangers. Defensive midfielder Sebastian Griesbeck (30) also comes from league competitor 1. FC Union Berlin.
The shamrock announced this shortly before the transfer window closed. The Franks had made a false start in the football upper house with one point in three games and 2: 9 goals.
“Cedric is a typical penalty area striker, tall, robust and with a pull to the goal. He has a lot of potential and really wanted to join us,” said Fürth’s sports director Rachid Azzouzi. Coach Stefan Leitl is also satisfied: “Cedric brings a lot of power as a striker. We are happy to have another option on the offensive with him.”
The 1.90 m tall Itten himself said: “I think that in Fürth I will find exactly the conditions to develop myself in the best possible way.”
According to Azzouzi, Griesbeck is a “seasoned Bundesliga professional, he has a lot of experience. He has now trained and played at a very high level for a year at Union.” The newcomer made 24 Bundesliga appearances for Union last season, and was in the starting line-up eight times.
