Nkunku and Schlager are out for the time being

RB Leipzig will have to do without striker Christopher Nkunku (small muscle fiber tear in his left thigh) and Xaver Schlager (surgery after a syndesmosis injury) until further notice. The Austrian Schlager will be operated on Monday and will probably be absent for weeks. The Leipzig announced on Saturday afternoon.

Marco Rose had not skimped on self-criticism after the Bundesliga top game at Borussia Dortmund (1: 2). “I probably should have reacted earlier with a substitution,” said the RB coach. He should have spared Nkunku, he meant – the top player of the DFB Cup winner is out again.

Germany’s footballer of the year made his comeback in the starting XI after 111 days in Dortmund, having previously been substituted on twice in the league. With Schlager, the healing process should take even longer.
