BVB, News: Emre Can extends contract
Emre Can has prematurely extended his contract with BVB by two years until 2026. Dortmund confirmed this on Saturday.
“In the past season, Emre has developed into the leading player that we have always seen in him. We appreciate his greed, his physique and his absolute will to win every game, not only at Borussia Dortmund but also in the national team. Emre is a strong, mature personality and has a lot of international experience. He will help us to further develop and stabilize this team. We are very happy to continue on this path together with Emre,” said sporting director Sebastian Kehl.
Can himself explained: “I feel very comfortable here in Dortmund. In the past few months I’ve definitely arrived and have shown what I expect from myself and what the fans here expect from me. It has to be my benchmark to play like we did in the second half of the season or even better. Dortmund and I go well together. That’s why I want to stay here, work hard and help the team to achieve our goals.”
The 29-year-old moved from Juventus Turin to Borussia in 2020. The defensive midfielder made 38 competitive appearances last season. His yield: three goals and one assist.
BVB, News: Reyna does not want to leave Dortmund
The rumors about Giovanni Reyna leaving BVB are obviously not an issue for the player. “I can’t imagine a better club,” the US star told ESPN. “I’m happy to have started my career at a club that has the chance to win the Bundesliga, the Cup and the Champions League. For me, leaving Dortmund is out of the question. I’m happy here and I could stay here forever.”
Recently there have been rumors that Borussia Mönchengladbach, among others, should be interested in a Reyna loan because he is not Edin Terzic’s first choice. But he seems to get along well with the coach: “Edin Terzic and the coaching staff encourage me to use my strengths and push me to improve,” he says of the training work.
BVB, News: New club for ex-Dortmund striker Aubameyang
