Goalkeeper Mark Flekken leaves SC Freiburg for FC Brentford in the English Premier League. The sports club announced this on Wednesday without giving details of the transfer fee. According to media reports, the 29-year-old Dutchman is said to have had an exit clause of 13 million euros.
Flekken came to Freiburg from MSV Duisburg in 2018 and was promoted to first-choice goalkeeper for the 2021/22 season, he played 96 competitive games for the Breisgau team.
“The time at the Sport-Club shaped me and I’m grateful to be able to experience this as an athlete and as a person,” said the Dutch international.
In Freiburg, Flekken could be succeeded by German U21 national goalkeeper Noah Atubolu (21).
