In future, SC Freiburg will no longer play its home games in the Dreisam Stadium, but in the new Europa-Park Stadium. The Breisgauers’ new venue will therefore be moving into today with a friendly match against the second division club FC St. Pauli. SC Freiburg vs. St. Pauli: Opening of the new Europa-Park Stadium – most important information

With a 3-0 win against FC Augsburg, SC Freiburg said goodbye to the Dreisam Stadium after 67 years and 360 Bundesliga games on matchday 6. Freiburg coach Christian Streich’s tears rolled down immediately after the final whistle, then he went into the stands with a megaphone, started chants and celebrated the last time in the old venue with the fans.

The Freiburg festivities do not have to end forever, however, they will simply be relocated to a new stadium. In future, the sports club will play its home games in the new Europa-Park stadium in the Brühl district. Instead of the 24,000 spectators in the Dreisam Stadium, 34,700 fans can now attend the games of the Breisgauer.

Today, Thursday, October 7th, the stadium will be occupied with a friendly against FC St. Pauli. The duel with the second division team will kick off at 6.30 p.m.
