President Herbert Hainer compares Hasan Salihamidzic to Sherlock Holmes

Bayern President Herbert Hainer raved about the activities in the transfer market of sports director Hasan Salihamidzic: “It has certainly not always been easy for him in recent years, but he has not let himself be thrown off track and has continued to develop,” said Hainer the AZ.

“We all know that he has an absolute Bayern heart and always gives everything for this club. And when you see the vehemence with which he implemented the Mané transfer, for example – it’s a lot of fun with him.” Compared to previous summers, when FC Bayern “had to get players in the last few days of the transfer window, sometimes with quick-fix actions”, a few things have changed because: “That’s where we pulled the trigger.”

In particular, Hainer praised the collaboration between Salihamidzic and Technical Director Marco Neppe and made an interesting comparison: “You could almost say it’s like Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, who are always on the lookout and draw the right conclusions. Marco does the analysis, Hasan has a lot of experience in this industry and in dealing with players. He knows what it’s like in a dressing room, what a player feels like.”

In addition to the duo, Hainer himself and CEO Oliver Kahn are also involved in the planning, and the overall process has improved significantly: “This year we approached the transfer policy in a more long-term and structured manner. We sat together months ago and analyzed what we needed and who is on the market. Like everything at FC Bayern, it’s a joint effort, we’re incredibly well coordinated.”
