Ralf Rangnick officially said goodbye around three and a half years after leaving RB Leipzig. Austria’s national coach, who shaped the club as coach and sporting director, was honored before the kick-off of the round of 16 first leg against Manchester City on Wednesday.
“Without you, we wouldn’t be standing here today and playing against Manchester City,” said former RB managing director Oliver Mintzlaff in his short speech in which he thanked Rangnick. He gave the club a “philosophy”.
The fact that you are now in this stadium shows “that something extraordinary has happened here within ten years,” said Rangnick. RB Leipzig has become “a trademark” that fills him “with pride and immense joy”. Afterwards, Rangnick said goodbye to the fans in front of the grandstand.
