RB Leipzig – Kevin Kampl on demands for a change of coach: “Stupid”

RB Leipzig midfielder Kevin Kampl reacted with incomprehension to calls for coach Domenico Tedesco to be fired on social media. “I think that’s stupid, I have to be honest. We’ve played three games now,” said the 31-year-old sky.

After two draws and one defeat, the DFB Cup winner only has two points on his account.

Meanwhile, Kampl recalled recent successes such as winning the cup and qualifying for the Champions League and held the team accountable. “Sometimes we didn’t stick to the match plan in the games or deviated from the match plan during the game,” said Kampl: “That’s not the coach’s fault, but we players have to take responsibility and that’s better make.”

Kampl also showed understanding for the recent criticism from managing director Oliver Mintzlaff, who spoke of a “crappy start” after the 2-2 win against 1. FC Köln on the second matchday. “We also set standards for ourselves. Our aim is to win every game. And I can absolutely understand that Oli is angry because we are just as angry,” he said: “We players have that too not imagined.” RB must “get back on track as soon as possible and score points”.
