Long-serving FIFA referee Felix Brych feels little sadness after the end of his international career.
“I ended my international career in December after this great year for me, in which I was even elected world referee,” said the 46-year-old on the show One-two 2. Bundesliga.
Brych is “proud of what I’ve achieved”, he “sometimes misses the Champions League games. I’m glad it ended like this. I wasn’t always the bogeyman, I’ve also had good times. “
In the coming season, Brych will reach the age limit for Bundesliga referees, so he would also have to retire at the top national level.
“It looks like that at the moment, we’ll see how it goes. I’m fit and I enjoy it. I want to whistle as long as possible,” he said: “Let’s see how it goes in the next few years I don’t think so far – the important games for us referees will follow.”
