Salihamidzic poisons against Matthäus after transfer criticism

Bayern Munich’s sports director Hasan Salihamidzic has responded to the criticism of TV expert Lothar Matthäus of the past two transfer periods of the record champions with a tip in the direction of the 60-year-old.

“Perhaps Lothar did not notice that there was a corona pandemic out there,” Salihamidzic poisoned on Sky-Microphone addressed to Matthew’s criticism of his transfers.

Matthäus had said that Bayern’s squad had steadily deteriorated over the past two years. The departures of key players such as Thiago, David Alaba, Jerome Boateng and Javi Martinez were contrasted with newcomers who, with the exception of Leroy Sane and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, at least would hardly have convinced Matthäus.

“We will always act sensibly on the transfer market and within the scope of our economic possibilities and we did that very well last year,” said Salihamidzic, explaining his position.

FCB only presented two newcomers in the current transfer period in Dayot Upamecano and Omar Richards. Recently there had been rumors of an approaching transfer from Marcel Sabitzer (RB Leipzig). “We have dealt with the player,” confirmed Salihamidzic and indicated that the deal would be concluded in the coming days after Sabitzer will not be in the squad for the Leipzig game against Wolfsburg on Sunday: “Could be an issue,” said the 44 year old.

Salihamidzic denied the rumors about possible transfers of Matthias Ginter and Jonas Hofmann from Borussia Mönchengladbach to Bayern: “Everything is unlikely.”
