SC Freiburg was just able to avert its first defeat of the season. With an own goal by Rafael Czichos, the Breisgauers scored 1-1 against 1. FC Köln.

After the dramatic final phase, Rafael Czichos put his hands over his face in disappointment. His teammates and coach Steffen Baumgart patted the defender of 1. Freiburg showed a reaction, pushed FC into their own half after the break, and came dangerously in front of goal through Woo-Yeong Jeong (49th) and Lucas Höler (52nd). However, Horn reacted strongly in both situations. In addition, a graduation from Christian Günter (65th) just rushed past.

Freiburg increased the pace again with increasing playing time. Baumgart reacted to the weaker start of Cologne in the second half and brought Ellyes Skhiri, among others, for more stability in midfield – but the FC came under more and more pressure in the final phase when they were outnumbered and finally received the equalizer.
