FC Bayern: Separation from Jörg Wacker could be expensive

The separation from board member Jörg Wacker is likely to cost Bayern Munich dearly. As the image reports, the 53-year-old received a seven-digit annual salary. His contract was only extended by five years to 2024 in 2019. He should receive a high severance payment. The record champions did not provide a reason for the separation.

Wacker had been responsible for and headed the specially created “Internationalization and Strategy” department since he took office in the summer of 2013 immediately after winning the triple. Now it’s over after a little more than eight years. The tasks of the 53-year-old, who has also been responsible for the area of ”merchandising and licenses” for four years, are now to be shared between the other board members.

Accordingly, the “Internationalization” area goes to Marketing Director Andreas Jung, “Merchandising” is taken over by Finance Director Jan-Christian Dreesen and Chief Executive Officer Oliver Kahn takes care of the “Strategy” area.

The new strong man at Bayern is driving the “AHEAD” project forward in the background. Together with President Herbert Hainer, Kahn wants to equip FC Bayern better for the future and also to position it more internationally. This obviously also includes the reduction of the board from five to four members – without Jörg Wacker.
