Setback for Giovanni Reyna in the fight for a comeback at Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund will probably have to do without offensive player Giovanni Reyna for longer than initially assumed.

As the Ruhr news announce, a comeback of the 18-year-old youngster is unlikely this year. The American has been suffering from stubborn muscular problems since September.

BVB coach Marco Rose had recently been optimistic. “It is slowly getting better for him. We hope that we can gradually take further steps forward, but we still cannot foresee when he will be back. Hopefully he will be an issue again this year,” said Rose a press conference in early November.

Reyna played his last of a total of five competitive games on August 27th, scoring his second goal of the season in a 3-2 win against TSG Hoffenheim.

BVB: Guerreiro comeback is getting closer

Borussia Dortmund is currently struggling with major personnel concerns. In the 2-1 defeat at RB Leipzig last weekend, nine players were missing, including top scorer Erling Haaland, who is currently completing his rehab program in Spain and is expected back in Dortmund next week.

A comeback by Raphael Guerreiro is getting closer. The Portuguese, who had to sit out since the beginning of October due to a hamstring, completed his second session with the team in a row. BVB will continue after the international break against VfB Stuttgart (November 20).
