The Swiss national coach Murat Yakin has accused Didi Hamann of disrespect after his criticism of Bayern keeper Yann Sommer. “Hard analyzes are part of the business and especially at Bayern. But Hamann’s such sharp criticism is incomprehensible to me. It is disrespectful to Yann in this form,” said Yakin from the Swiss View quoted.
Hamann had sharply criticized the Swiss goalkeeper after Bayern Munich’s 3-0 defeat at Manchester City. “For me, the goalkeeper was hopelessly overwhelmed today. If you’re a bit unsure as a central defender, then you need a goalkeeper who gives you security. The goalkeeper has not only unsettled the team today, but for the past few weeks,” he said the former German national player said, among other things.
For Yakin, these statements are not tenable. “Everyone knows that Yann has a calming way of dealing with the team. He proved that in the first few weeks at Bayern Munich,” said the 48-year-old, who remembered FCB’s 1-0 Bundesliga win at SC Freiburg reminded: “Yann held the three points with his parade for Bayern. You should also notice that as an expert.”
Rodri’s goal in the 27th minute to make it 1-0 for Manchester was rated by several experts as tenable. “I don’t want to commit myself,” said Yakin: “I think the shot to make it 1-0 came a little undercover. I don’t think Yann expected Rodri to take a left-footed shot, he was a little there surprised.”
The former Bundesliga professional (VfB Stuttgart, 1. FC Kaiserslautern) does not believe that Sommer, who switched from Borussia Mönchengladbach to the Isar in January, could be unsettled by the criticism.
“Yann can deal with it. He just signed with Bayern Munich, that’s part of it. He will deal with the criticism objectively and professionally,” said Yakin.
