Slack in the top scorer list: Fredi Bobic “threatens” record loss

In the snail race for the top scorer, a negative record threatens: Niclas Füllkrug could replace Fredi Bobic and Co.
Fredi Bobic keeps his fingers crossed for Niclas Füllkrug. For 27 years he has held a title, a pretty damned one – as Bundesliga top scorer with the fewest goals of the season. “I’m not keen on keeping the record forever,” Bobic told dem SID.
In the 1995/1996 season, the former international and European champion of 1996 scored 17 goals, seven years earlier Thomas Allofs (1. FC Köln) and Roland Wohlfarth (FC Bayern) shared the title with 17 goals each – Füllkrug currently has 16 gates “Records should also be broken – and that applies to both directions,” said Bobic.
“I’m not surprised that the top scorer will go away with so few goals again this season. With Erling Haaland and Robert Lewandowski, the Bundesliga has lost two top attackers who easily guarantee a club 30 goals,” said Bobic: “And it was no adequate replacement brought in. The Bundesliga no longer has a world-class striker, you have to say that so clearly.”
And while Haaland and Lewandowski are now leading the scorer lists in England and Spain, Füllkrug will probably take his chance in the Bundesliga. The Werder Bremen attacker, who was recently out due to calf problems, leads the list ahead of Vincenzo Grifo (SC Freiburg), Randal Kolo Muani (Eintracht Frankfurt), Christopher Nkunku (RB Leipzig) and Marcus Thuram (Borussia Mönchengladbach/all 13 goals). .
“When the time comes, it’s a great award. But you always have to be realistic about the whole thing,” said Füllkrug, who would be Germany’s first top scorer eight years after Alexander Meier (Frankfurt), on werr.de. The 30-year-old benefits from the fact that “we have an offensive style of play.” But Füllkrug “of course also knows that players like Robert Lewandowski or Erling Haaland weren’t there this year and therefore one or two names are missing from the list.”
Nevertheless: Füllkrug is playing “the best season of his career, he’s a real nine, the way I like it. For his standards, he’s outstanding,” said Bobic: “Unfortunately he’s injured again at the moment, these problems have thrown him back more often . Maybe he can still score a goal or two, we’ll see.”
Basically, the goal loss should give food for thought. “We should train real nines again in Germany – and not just false nines,” said Bobic: “This development, that in recent years no real center forwards have been used, is now noticeable.” Nevertheless, he would like to lose his title.
