VfL Bochum has to temporarily do without its sports director Patrick Fabian. According to the club, the ex-professional is “temporarily unavailable for health reasons”. Marc Lettau, Technical Director at Westfalen since the beginning of the year, will take on his duties.
“We will support Patrick Fabian in any form,” said CEO Hans-Peter Villis: “He informed us about his situation. We ask for your understanding that we will not provide any further information with a view to protecting his privacy.”
The 35-year-old Fabian, who played 157 competitive games for VfL between 2009 and 2020, succeeded Sebastian Schindzielorz, who had moved to Wolfsburg, as head of sport at the beginning of September.
After four Bundesliga bankruptcies in a row, Bochum, bottom of the table, is in great danger of relegation.
